12/7/00 - IBC Invests In UT Pan American Student-Athletes: The International Bank of Commerce (IBC) has presented The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) with a $30,000 donation to directly benefit the Athletic Department’s general fund and its academic enhancement program. The sponsorship will be used to fund the existing Student-Athlete Academic Learning Center, the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills seminar series, as well as an enhanced tutorial program for student-athletes.

6/15/00 - UT Pan American Men’s Basketball Player Reggie Kuzet Named to National Dean’s List: University of Texas-Pan American men’s basketball player Radovan “Reggie” Kuzet was named to the prestigious National Dean’s List for the academic year of 1999-2000 for his work in the classroom, it was announced Thursday.
5/2/00 - Four UT Pan American Student-Athletes Named Arthur Ashe Jr. Scholar Athletes: University of Texas-Pan American student-athletes Alejandra Gutierrez, Adriana Espinoza, Dawne Hill and Oziel Ortiz were all named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award Winners on Tuesday.
4/7/00 - UTPA Men’s Basketball Player Reggie Kuzet Receives NCAA Honor for Leadership:University of Texas-Pan American men’s basketball player Radovan “Reggie” Kuzet has been selected to participate in the fourth annual NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference, which will be held May 28 - June 1 at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
4/6/00 - UT Pan American Men’s Golfer Juan Elizondo to be Featured in “SuperOnda” Magazine: University of Texas-Pan American student-athlete Juan Elizondo will be featured in the June, 2000, issue of SuperOnda, a magazine centered around career opportunities and job placement for hispanic youth. Elizondo was chosen because of his strong academic standing at UTPA.
3/10/00 - 14 UT Pan American Student-Athletes Named USAA All-American Scholars for 1999-00: 14 University of Texas-Pan American Student Athletes were named United States Achievement Academy (USAA) All-American Scholars for the 1999-2000 academic year, the UTPA Athletic Department announced on Friday.
1/28/00 - UT Pan American Student Athletes Making Strides in First Semester of New System: The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at The University of Texas-Pan American has begun to feel the effects of its recommitment to academics as indicated by the performance of UTPA student-athletes during the fall 1999 semester. Of the 132 certified student-athletes competing for UTPA in Division I athletics during the fall semester, 37 (28%) earned cumulative grade point averages (GPA’s) of 3.0 or better. This figure is up 13% from the previous 1998-99 academic year.
