Asst. Athletic Director for Business Operations Raul Betancourt

    Raul Betancourt is in his first year as Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations.  He is in his third year in the Athletic Department, having served as Business Manager for the past two years.
    Betancourt returned to UTPA in 1998 after serving as Business Manager for the Partnership for Business and Industry Training at South Texas Community College.  Before working at STCC in McAllen the past three years, Betancourt served five years at UTPA, first in Accounts Payable, then as a Financial Aid Accounting Manager.
    Betancourt earned a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Accounting from UTPA in 1988.  He then earned his Master of Business Administration degree with concentrations in Management Information Systems and International Business from the University of Houston in 1990.
    As an undergraduate student at UTPA, Betancourt was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, Business Honor Society; vice president of the Accounting Society; and a member of the University’s Students in Free Enterprise.
    Betancourt is married to the former Mary Lou Garza of Falfurrias, Texas.  They have two children, Jeremy, six, and Noah, who will be two in September.
