Lady Broncs On Target in 2003
See all 12 exciting UTPA home volleyball matches this season

Twelve
exciting home dates are on tap as the 2003 edition of The University of
Texas-Pan American's volleyball team attempts to regain the title of independent
champion. The two-time independent champs were dethroned last season, and
Texas-Pan American is looking to regain their title this year.
Make your plans now to be at each home match as the Lady Broncs make the
UTPA Fieldhouse South Texas' volleyball headquarters this fall. Special
promotions are planned throughout the season.
Sixth-year Head Coach Dave Thorn has led his team to the best three
consecutive seasons in the program's history. Last year, Texas-Pan
American won nine matches in a row en route to a 16-19 record. Coach Thorn
is two victories away from becoming the all-time leader in wins among Lady
Bronc volleyball coaches, and senior outside hitter Jaclyn Muszynski is
poised to become the first UTPA player to amass 1000 kills and 1000 digs
in a career.
The Lady Broncs have a good schedule again this season. Texas-El Paso of
the Western Athletic Conference, Texas State-San Marcos of the Southland
and Sun Belt rival New Mexico State will visit the UTPA Fieldhouse this
year.
Texas-Pan
American
will also host fellow independents Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Indiana-Purdue
Fort Wayne, as well as Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M of the Southwestern
Athletic Conference. Area rivals Texas A&M-Kingsville and Texas A&M-International
will join Incarnate Word as one of one of eight teams from the state of
Texas to visit Texas-Pan American.
Prairie
View A & M visits the UTPA Fieldhouse for the home opener September
2nd, while Texas State comes to Edinburg September 9th. Incarnate Word visits
two weeks later, then New Mexico State begins a stretch of five consecutive
home matches when they play the Lady Broncs on November 2nd. That home stand
also includes visits by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Parents' Weekend),
Texas A&M-International and IPFW as well as the annual alumni match.
The Lady Broncs host Texas Southern October 22nd and Texas-El Paso on Halloween
Night, October 31st, before concluding their home schedule with an exhibition
match against Liga Municipal Select of Reynosa November 1st and Senior Night
against Texas A&M-Kingsville November 4th. The Senior Night match will
precede the men's basketball exhibition game against Monterrey Tech.
