Student-Athletes Honored as 2001 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
The
Journal of Black Issues in Higher Education has recently honored three
student-athletes at The University of Texas-Pan American as 2001 recipients of
the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Sport Scholar award.
Woman’s golfer, Adriana Espinoza, and Baseball player, Oziel Ortiz was
both honored for the second consecutive year.
First year Cross Country and Track standout, Patty Villarreal was honored
for the first time.

Baseball Celebrates Final Home Series at Jody Ramsey Stadium
EDINBURG,
TX — The Bronc Baseball program celebrated their final home series at Jody
Ramsey Stadium over the weekend. Jody Ramsey Stadium has served as the Broncs'
home for 29 seasons. Several members of the Bronc Baseball alumni team were on
hand for this special occasion. The Broncs fell short to the Islanders in the
final game on Sunday 5-4.
