Student-Athletes Honored as 2001 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars
The
Journal of Black Issues in Higher Education has recently honored three
student-athletes at The University of Texas-Pan American as 2001 recipients of
the prestigious Arthur Ashe Jr. Sport Scholar award.
Woman’s golfer, Adriana Espinoza, and Baseball player, Oziel Ortiz was
both honored for the second consecutive year.
First year Cross Country and Track standout, Patty Villarreal was honored
for the first time.

Baseball Celebrates Final Home Series at Jody Ramsey Stadium
EDINBURG,
TX — The Bronc Baseball program celebrated their final home series at Jody
Ramsey Stadium over the weekend. Jody Ramsey Stadium has served as the Broncs'
home for 29 seasons. Several members of the Bronc Baseball alumni team were on
hand for this special occasion. The Broncs fell short to the Islanders in the
final game on Sunday 5-4.

A&M-Corpus Christi 6-5, in the opening game of Saturday's double-header. The
Broncs who are playing in their final home series at Jody Ramsey Stadium, held a
special pre-game ceremony to
honor the memory of former Bronc standout Jody Ramsey.

scored the second-most runs in the program’s history Sunday in a 26-13 win in
the first game of a doubleheader with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. In the
second game, they broke the school record for home runs with seven long balls in

The University of Texas-Pan American Bronc Baseball team earned a 4-3 victory
over the University of the Incarnate Word this afternoon. The Crusaders (15-10)
came back to take the second game 5-2. The Broncs return to action this Friday,
March 30th as they travel to College Station to face Texas A&M. Game time is
7 p.m.

Bobcats 5-4 in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. The Broncs dropped
