"BRONCSGIVING" IS SUCCESSFUL

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American Athletic Department's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's food drive on Thanksgiving night was a successful one.

The SAAC held its first annual "Broncsgiving" prior to the Texas-Pan American men's basketball game against Mississippi Valley State. All fans bringing a minimum of two non-perishable food items were admitted to the game free of charge, and student-athletes collected the items for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.

"The generosity of the people of the Rio Grande Valley is really extraordinary to me," said Chris Uchacz, UTPA's Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support and Student Services. "Our student-athletes collected more than 350 canned goods and non-perishable items, which the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be donating to the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley in order to prepare food packages for the Christmas season. It's a great cause, and our student-athletes have made a commitment to give back to the community which so readily supports their athletic and academic endeavors."
