UT Pan American Men’s Golf in 15th After First Day at Moe O’Brien Invitational
LAKE CHARLES, LA. – Stephen Slaughter is in a tie for 28th place overall, helping the University of Texas-Pan American men’s golf team to a 15th place standing after the first day of the Moe O’Brien Invitational at the Lake Charles Country Club.
Slaughter, a sophomore from Fort Worth, Texas, shot an opening round 71 and followed that up with a 75 to finish with a two-over par 146 after two rounds. Miguel De Los Santos is tied for 60th with a 151, Santiago DeLarrea is tied for 65th at 152, Juan Elizondo is tied for 68th with a 153, Ramiro Garcia is tied for 80th with a 156 and Albert Moncado is in 89th with a 160.
Sharing the overall lead after two rounds are Brian Popp of host McNeese State and Andy Ternes of Lamar with nine-under par 135’s. Robby Going is just one stroke back at 136. Overall, McNeese State has a four-stroke lead over Arkansas-Little Rock, 560 to 564. UT-Arlington is 17 strokes off the pace with a 577 and Lamar and Stephen F. Austin are tied for fourth, 18 strokes back. UTPA is in 15th with a total of 603, 43 strokes back.
The Broncs will tee it up on Tuesday morning in the third and final round of the tournament at the Lake Charles Country Club.
