UT Pan American Men’s Golf Finishes 18th at the Border Olympics Saturday
LAREDO – Stephen Slaughter fired a final round 77 to lead the University of Texas-Pan American to an 18th place finish at the Border Olympics, played at the Laredo Country Club on Saturday.
Slaughter finished with a three-round total of 246, good for a tie for 78th overall. Teammate Santiago DeLarrea tied for 76th overall with a total of 244. Ramiro Garcia tied 82nd with a 251, with Miguel de los Santos, while Juan Elizondo was 86th with a 257.
Drew Conrad of Rice fired a final round 215 to edge Jimmy Walker of Baylor for medalist honors. Walker shot a 216 to finish as the runner-up. Baylor took team honors with a three-round total of 882 in the star-studded field. Texas A&M finished second, just four strokes back at 886, Rice was third with an 880, while UT-San Antonio and Tulsa tied for fourth. The Broncs finished 18th with a three-round total of 988.
The Broncs will have little time to relax as they head to Little Rock, Ark., for the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The tournament will be the final one for the Broncs this season.
