Jordan Bunte Leads UTPA Men's Golf at Oral Roberts Invitational
TULSA, OKLA. -- Freshman Jordan Bunte was the top finisher for the University of Texas-Pan American men's golf team, which finished in 18th place with a final score of 946 at the Oral Roberts Invitational, Wednesday.
Bunte fired rounds of 73, 76 and 79, which placed him in a tie for 37th place. Stuart Anderson of Illinois State earned medalist honors, shooting a 213 (71, 68, 74). The University of Texas-San Antonio took home team honors with a three-round total of 874.
Todd Grubert, another UTPA freshman, shot a 237 and finished in a tie for 74th. Right behind Grubert was Ramiro Garcia with a 238 and a share of 76th. Migeul de los Santos and Albert Moncado turned in scores of 245 and 251 for 90th and 94th places respectively.
"We are a very young team and we're playing that way," according to UTPA Head Coach John Garcia. "The kids are putting way too much pressure on themselves to play as well as the teams of the past."
The Broncs will tee it up next at the Tulane Deep South Intercollegiate Tournament on October 25-26 in New Orleans, La.
