AIKEN, SC–The University of Texas-Pan American’s men’s golf team finished 14th at the 15-team Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championship, hosted by South Carolina-Aiken at the Palmetto Golf Club.

The Broncs shot a final-round score of 290, good for a 54-hole total of 884. UTPA finished ahead of Tulane by eight strokes.

Virginia Tech won the tournament with a score of 836, followed by South Florida at 851, Texas-Arlington and Kansas at 854, Furman at 855 and Virginia Commonwealth at 857. Texas tech was next at 859, followed by the host Pacers at 860, Pfeiffer at 866, Southeastern Louisiana at 873, Florida State and Maryland at 877, and Georgia College and State University at 878.

Sophomore Ben Piper (Lubbock, TX/Coronado HS) led the Broncs, shooting.a final-round score of 70 for a 54-hole total of one-under-par 212, tying him for 13^th. Senior Santiago DeLarrea (Victoria, Spain/Colegio Miguel de Cervantes) shot a 70 for 218, and tied for 35^th.  Freshman John Huerta (Alice, TX/Alice HS) shot 75 for 225, and is tied for 59th, sophomore Rudy Celedon (Edinburg, TX/Edinburg North HS) shot 75-229 and tied for 71^st, and junior Omar Halldorsson (Akureyri, Iceland/Schola Aknreyrensis) shot 79 for 238, good for 78^th place.

The Broncs will participate at the Furman Intercollegiate this weekend.
