Grubert Leads UT Pan American Men's Golf at Moe O'Brien Golf Invitational

LAKE CHARLES, LA - Todd Grubert finished in a tie for 9th to lead The
University of Texas-Pan American Golf team to a ninth place finish at the
Moe O'Brien Golf Invitational, held at the Lake Charles Country Club.

Grubert, a sophomore from Bastrop, Texas, shot a final round 78 after
firing a second round 71 to tie for 12th place overall with a three-round
total of 224.  Just two strokes behind Grubert was junior Stephen Slaughter
who tied for 11th place with a three-round total of 226.  Santiago DeLarrea
finished in a tie for 19th place with a three-round total of 234.  While
Ricky Benavides finished 24th with a 239.

Chris Stoud of Lamar took individual medallist honors at the tournament,
firing a sizzling 209 to edge fellow teammates Joe Kunick and Matt Larson
who both shot three-round totals of 216.

In the team standings, Lamar took top honors and the tournament title
defeating Oklahoma City by 35 strokes.  Lamar shot a three-round total of
863 topping Oklahoma City's 898.  Host McNeese State finished third with a
final team total of 905.  As a team, UTPA carded a three-round total of
923, good for ninth place overall.

The Broncs will tee it up again on March 26-27 at the UALR Invitational in
Little Rock, Arkansas.
