10/24/01-Marisa Robinson Named Assistant CC/Track and Field Coach: Marisa Robinson, who began her track and field career in Montana and competed at Arkansas and San Diego State, is the newest member of the University of Texas-Pan American cross country and track and field coaching staff.

American Announces Hiring of Ricky Vaughn
The University of Texas Pan American has announced the hiring of one of the most
respected and successful field event coaches in the nation as it’s new Head
Coach of Men’s and Women’s Track and Field/Cross Country. Ricky Vaughn, who
most recently served as an assistant coach for National Champion Louisiana State
University, will begin his duties at UTPA in August.

Track & Field Hosts Two Day Camp, May 19-20
EDINBURG, Tex. - The
University of Texas-Pan American's Track & Field program will be hosting a
two-day camp May 19-20 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the UTPA Campus. The camp is open
to boys and girls and men and women from 6th grade and above of all skill levels
who participate in Track & Field.

BEAUMONT, TX – Perla Handy finished first in the
3,000 meter run while Amy Moses finished second in the discus throw to lead the
UT-Pan American Lady Broncs at the Ty Terrell Relays.

Pan American Women’s Track and Field Takes Second Place at Javelina Relays
KINGSVILLE,
TX – Shari Galvin, Perla Handy, Rachel Drury, and LaQuanta Bivens all picked
up individual titles while five others placed as the Lady Bronc Track &
Field team finished in second at the Javelina Relays on Saturday.
3/17/01 - UTPA’s Lopez and Ojeda Set School Records, Summa Ties One, in Angela Procter Invite.: Robert Lopez crushed the previous school record in the hammer throw, Galina Ojeda broke her own record in the 400-meter hurdles and eight other athletes from the University of Texas-Pan American won individual titles at the Angela Procter Invitational Saturday afternoon at the UTPA Track and Field Complex.
3/3/01 - UT Pan American Women’s Track and Field Takes Title at Border Olympics Saturday: Shari Galvin and Quanta Bivens picked up individual titles and seven other Lady Broncs placed as the University of Texas-Pan American women’s track and field team took first place at the Border Olympics Saturday.

2/4/01 - Ben Leads UT Pan American at Texas Tech Open Track and Field Meet Sunday: Rashaad Ben was one of three Broncs to set school records and a total of eight Broncs placed in the top five in their respective events as the University of Texas-Pan American had it’s strongest performance of the season at the Texas Tech Open Indoor Track and Field Meet on Sunday.

A total of 21 teams participated in the event.
