to Louisiana-Monroe 4-1, this afternoon in the opening round match-up at the
Southland Conference Tournament held at the UTSA Campus in San Antonio.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The 2001 Southland
Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships begin this morning at 8 a.m.
on the campus of the University of Texas at San Antonio. The opening match
will start on the men's side with No. 2-seed Texas-Arlington facing No. 7-seed
Centenary.
UTPA’s Abdullah Named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year

EDINBURG,
TX – UTPA’s Kareem Abdullah was named the Southland Conference Newcomer of
the Year announced today by the SLC Office. Abdullah, a junior from Clarendon,
TX, joined the Broncs after two years at Seward (Kansas) Community College.

Broncs win fifth consecutive match
EDINBURG, TX. -- The University of
Texas-Pan American men's tennis team defeated Lamar University 5-2 Friday
evening at the Cox Tennis Stadium. With the win the Broncs improve to 12-12 on
the season and even their Southland Conference record to 2-2.

Texas-Pan American men's tennis team defeated Alcorn State 6-1 at the Cox Tennis
Center this afternoon in Edinburg. With the win the Broncs improve to 11-12 on
