Downar: Assistant Athletic Trainer

Jackie
Downar joined the Texas-Pan American athletic training staff in August,
2002, and serves as the top assistant to Head Athletic Trainer Jim Lancaster.A native of Hertford, North Carolina, Downar earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise and Sports Science at the University of North Carolina, where she served as a student trainer for four years. She spent the summer of 2000 interning as an athletic trainer with the Chatman Athletics of the Cape Cod Baseball League, then went on to earn a Master of Science degree in Sports Health Care at the Arizona School of Health Sciences. While attending graduate school, Downar served as an athletic trainer at Skyline High School in Mesa, Arizona, and interned as an athletic trainer with the Milwaukee Brewers’ farm team in the Arizona Rookie League. She is also first author on a manuscript that is currently being reviewed for publication by the Journal of Athletic Training. Downar is certified by the National Athletic Training Association Borad of Certification (ATC), and is licensed by the Texas Department of Health as a Licensed Athletic Trainer. She is also credentialed as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS). |
