Chris Uchacz: Assistant Athletic Director for
Academic Support and Student Services

Chris UchaczChris Uchacz is in his second year as UTPA Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support and Student Services, and fifth year as a member of the UTPA athletic administration. Uchacz’s primary responsibilities include overseeing the academic progress of all UTPA student-athletes, while closely monitoring graduation and retention rates. Uchacz is responsible for the planning, development and coordination of academic support programs and student services for all Bronc and Lady Bronc student-athletes representing 14 NCAA Division I athletic programs.

In addition, Uchacz is responsible for the implementation of the Freshman/Transfer Orientation program; various study skills workshops; NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills seminars; coordination of tutorial services; and acting as the Student-Athlete Advisory Council liaison.

Uchacz came to Texas-Pan American from the University of Illinois, where he served on the Academic Advising Staff working in the Athletics Department's Wellness Program while counseling student-athletes.

Currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Kinesiology at The University of Illinois where he is studying the interrelationship between sport, global culture and the internet, Uchacz holds a Master’s Degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, and an Honors Degree in Physical Education from Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. Uchacz competed as a student-athlete in both soccer and crew while attending Brock.
