Assistant Coach Kate Galligan

Kate GalliganAnother Nebraska connection came to fruition for the University of Texas-Pan American women’s basketball team when Kate Galligan joined the staff as an assistant coach for the 2001-2002 season. Galligan joins the Lady Broncs after serving three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Pittsburgh of the Big East Conference.

"Kate will certainly enhance our staff with her ability in coaching the perimeter players," said Head Coach Karin Nicholls. "She was a well-prepared player in college. The level of commitment she possessed as a player will help as she challenges our young women in reaching their goals."

A four-year starter for the University of Nebraska between 1992 and 1996, Galligan played three of her years while Nicholls was an assistant coach. She earned second team All-Big Eight honors, and was thrice a First Team All-Academic All-Big Eight selection. Asst. Coach Kate Galligan giving instructions

Galligan began her coaching career at her alma mater. After spending one season as an Administrative Assistant for the Huskers, Galligan moved on to the University of Nebraska-Kearney, where she served as a Graduate Assistant Coach. She was also the administrative director for the UNK All-Star Loper Basketball Camps.

"I am very excited to be part of a program that is building and on the rise," said Galligan. "I am most excited about coaching with people I am familiar with who share similar philosophies. I will be looking forward to entering a new stage of my coaching career with regards to recruiting."
