A fine student, Gooden was named Academic All-State by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. She was named to the National Honor Society, was named a University Interscholastic League Scholar, and also received Dobie’s Trailblazer Award.

“Stacey is a tremendous athlete,” said UTPA Head Coach Carol Russell. “She is a very hard workers, and her work ethic alone will help us out tremendously next year. She’s a left-handed post player, and she can hit shots in the high post, as well as play with her back to the basket. She’s very versatile, and runs the floor very well. Stacey comes from a great family, and she’s a very good student. She’ll help bring a lot to this program, and she’ll fit in well here.”
