women’s basketball team dropped the second and final game of their
two-game road trip to Illinois Tuesday evening, losing at Chicago State, 60-39. The
Lady Broncs made just 33.3 per cent of their shots from the field and
committed 38 turnovers. Chicago State scored 29 of the game’s first 35
points to take a 29-6 lead with 6:45 remaining in the first half. The
Cougars led at halftime, 36-15, making 56 per cent of their shots from

nine points, while junior guard Michelle Smith (Vancouver, BC/Heritage

Coach Karin Nicholls. “We committed too many turnovers. We didn’t
give ourselves an opportunity to score enough points. To make shots, you
have to have the opportunity to take them.” The Lady Broncs dropped to 1-4 with the defeat, while the Cougars improved to 2-3. UTPA will finish their stretch of four consecutive road games when they visit Lamar Saturday night. WBBCSU112701
