Kate Galligan Joins Lady Bronc Basketball Coaching Staff

EDINBURG, Texas - Kate Galligan has joined The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball coaching staff, Head Coach Karin Nicholls announced this week. Galligan comes to UTPA after serving three seasons at the University of Pittsburgh of the Big East Conference.

"Kate will certainly enhance our staff with her ability in coaching the perimeter players," said Head Coach Karin Nicholls. "She was a
well-prepared player in college and the level of commitment she possessed,
as a player will help as she challenges these young women in reaching their goals," Nicholls added.

 
Galligan began her coaching career at her alma mater, the University of Nebraska. After spending one season as an Administrative Assistant there,
Galligan moved on to the University of Nebraska-Kearney where she served as a Graduate Assistant Coach where she also served as the administrative
director for the UNK All-Star Loper Basketball Camps. Galligan was a four-year starter for the University of Nebraska (1992-96) and played three seasons under then Assistant Coach Karin Nicholls. She was a three-time First Team All-Academic All-Big Eight selection and was named Second Team All Big-Eight.

"I am very excited to be part of a program that is building and on the rise," said Galligan. "I am most excited about coaching with people I am
familiar with who share similar philosophies. I will be looking forward to entering a new stage of my coaching career with regards to recruiting," Galligan added.
