McInturff, Schaefer, Lead UT Pan American Women’s Golf to Seventh Place at ORU Invitational

TULSA, OKLA. – Jamie McInturff and Melissa Schaefer each shot first round 86’s to pace the University of Texas-Pan American women’s golf team in the Oral Roberts Invitational, played at the Broken Arrow Golf and Country Club on Monday afternoon.

McInturff and Schaefer are each tied for 24th after one round, 11 strokes back of Shelley Farmer of Northeast Oklahoma State, Linzi Morton of Midland and Maria Jose Hurtado and Laurie Vescovo, both of Arkansas-Little Rock, all of whom are tied for the lead at 75.  Just four strokes back of McInturff and Schaefer is Tootie Lauzon with a 90 (t36th), while Jeannie Lane is tied for 44th with a 93 and Alejandra Gutierrez is 46th with a 94.

The Broncs shot an opening round 355, 53 strokes behind Arkansas-Little Rock, who is running away from the field with a 302.  North Texas and Northeastern Oklahoma State are tied for second at 320, 18 strokes behind UALR.

UTPA will wrap up play at the Broken Arrow Golf and Country Club on Tuesday morning with the second and final round.
