MAYNARD SIGNS WITH LADY BRONCS
EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American
women’s golf team has signed its first recruit for next fall. Stefanie Maynard of Pflugerville, Texas and Pflugerville High School will join the Broncs for the 2002-2003 season. She will enter as a freshman, with four years of eligibility. Maynard finished sixth at the Texas State Junior
Girls Tournament in August. She also was runner-up at the South Texas
PGA Junior Girls’ Championship in July. She earned All-District and
All-Region honors in each of her three seasons at Pflugerville. A good student, Maynard also has been named to the
All “A” Honor Roll in each of her three years at PHS, is a member of
the National Honor Society, and was named to Who’s Who Among American
High School Students. She also ranks in the top two per cent of her
class. “Stefanie is a tough competitor who doesn’t quit,” said UTPA Head Coach Barb Odale. “She is a smart player who is very accurate. Her competitiveness is going to help us next year. At our level, I think she’ll be great. Stefanie is one of the top players in the Austin-San Antonio area, which usually has the top players in the state. Once she gets some good competition, I think she will really take off. I think the sky’s the limit for Stefanie.” WG-01-12-03-01 |
