13TH AFTER FIRST DAY AT LADY COLONEL CLASSIC
RICHMOND, KY–The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf team is in 13th place after the
first day of action at the 15-team Lady Colonel Classic, hosted by
Eastern Kentucky at the Arlington Golf Course. The Lady Broncs shot an 18-hole score of 336, placing them one stroke behind Tennessee Tech. The Lady Broncs are one shot ahead of Ball State, and eleven shots ahead of Lipscomb. Austin Peay leads the tournament with a score of 310, followed by Murray State at 312, Toledo at 315, Xavier at 316, the host Lady Colonels at 320, Butler and Western Carolina at 321, Western Kentucky at 323, Oakland at 326, Youngstown State 329, and Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis at 331. Sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS)
led UTPA with a score of 81, good for a tie for 32nd place.
Sophomore Itziar Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) and
freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS) each shot
scores of 83, good for a tie for 43rd. Senior Adriana
Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) shot an 89, good for a tie for 69th
place. Sophomore Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) shot a score
of 110, good for 87th place. The tournament will continue Friday and conclude
Saturday.
