FINISH 11TH AT LADY COLONEL CLASSIC
RICHMOND, KY–The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf finished 11 at the 15-team Lady Colonel
Classic, hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the Arlington Golf Course. The Lady Broncs shot a final-round score of 327 Saturday, giving them a total of 992, 15 strokes ahead of Tennessee Tech. UTPA finished 14 shots behind Youngstown State, and 21 shots ahead of Ball State, 22 strokes ahead of Indiana-Purdue-Indianapolis, and 30 shots ahead of Lipscomb.. Toledo won the tournament with a score of 942. They were followed by Murray State at 946, Austin Peay at 947, Western Carolina at 955, Eastern Kentucky at 960, Butler and Oakland at 967, Xavier at 970, and Western Kentucky at 972,. Sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS)
shot an 83, good for a 54-hole score of 244 and a tie for 30th
place. Sophomore Itziar Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio)
shot an 80 and freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley
HS) shot a 78. Both finished with scores of 245, good for a tie for 32nd
place. Senior Adriana Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) shot an 86, for a
three-day score of 258, good for a tie for 65th place. Sophomore
Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) shot a score of 115, good for a
total of 334, and 87th place. The Lady Broncs will conclude their season at the
National Minority Golf Championships at Port St. Lucie, Florida May 10th-13th.
