TIED FOR 13TH AT NIU/SNOWBIRD INTERCOLLEGIATE
TAMPA, FL – The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf team is tied for 13th after the
first day of action at the 22-team Northern Illinois University/Snowbird
Intercollegiate Tournament, at the Pebblecreek Country Club in Tampa,
Florida.. The Lady Broncs shot a first-round score of 334, leaving them tied with Ball State. Arkansas State leads with a score of 305, followed by Southern Mississippi at 307, Southern Illinois at 312, Notre Dame at 313, Toledo at 314, Lynn at 315, Methodist at 321, Bowling Green at 327 and Yale and St. Mary’s (TX) tied at 328. Next are host NIU, at 329 and Wichita State, at 331. Following the Lady Broncs and Cardinals are Youngstown State at 335, Missouri-Kansas City, at 338, Minnesota State-Mankato, 341, Florida Southern, 345, John A Logan CC, 348, Western Illinois, at 360, Creighton, 361, and Bucknell, at 365. Sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS)
led the Lady Broncs, shooting a first-round score of 79 for a tie for
23rd place. Freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS)
shot an 81, good for a tie for 35th place. Senior Adriana Espinoza
(Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) shot an 85, good for a tie for 67th
place. Sophomore Itziar Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio)
and sophomore Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) each shot scores
of 89, tying them for 96th place.. The next round will complete the two-round
