FINISH 13TH AT NIU/SNOWBIRD INTERCOLLEGIATE
TAMPA, FL – The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf team finished 13th at the 22-team
Northern Illinois University/Snowbird Intercollegiate Tournament, at the
Pebblecreek Country Club in Tampa, Florida.. The Lady Broncs shot a final-round score of 326, leaving them with a 36-hole total of 660. Arkansas State finished first with a score of 600, followed by Notre Dame at 617, Southern Mississippi at 618, Southern Illinois at 620, Toledo at 624, Lynn at 636, Wichita State at 639 and host NIU at 646. Following were Methodist at 647, Bowling Green at 652, Yale at 654, and Youngstown State at 658. Following the Lady Broncs were St. Mary’s (TX) at 670, Minnesota State-Mankato at 673, Missouri-Kansas City at 674, Ball State at 675, Florida Southern at 685, John A Logan CC at 694, Western Illinois at 703, Creighton at 704, and Bucknell at 710. Sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS)
and senior Adriana Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) led the Lady Broncs.
Frazier shot a second-round score of 85, while Espinoza shot a 79. Both
finished with 36-hole scores of 164, good for a tie for 47th
place. Freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS) and
sophomore Itziar Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) were
next. Treanor shot an 85 and Unanue a 77. Both finished at 166 and tied
for 57th place. Sophomore
Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) shot a second-round score of
102 for a 36-hole score of 191, tying her for 119th place. The Lady Broncs will return to action at the Baylor
Shootout March 27th. UTPA
