12TH AFTER 1ST DAY AT SHSU/WATERWOOD INVITATIONAL
HUNTSVILLE, TX – The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf team is 12th after the first two
rounds of the Sam Houston State/Waterwood National Women’s Spring
Invitational, at the Waterwood National Golf Club. The Lady Broncs shot a 346 on the first round and a
341 on the second round for a 36-hole score of 687. Nebraska is in first place with a score of 634. The Huskers are followed by Arkansas-Little Rock, at 635, Nevada, 636, McLennan CC, 638, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, 641, host SHSU, at 646, Kansas, at 648, Eastern Michigan, at 650, Lamar, at 651, Southern Methodist, at 652, and Southwest Texas State, at 686. Following UTPA were Tyler JC, at 694, Centenary, at 701, the Sam Houston Orange team, at 720, and Nicholls State, at 769. McNeese State had two golfers withdraw, and did not post a team score. Sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS) led the Lady Broncs, shooting rounds of 87 and 81 for a score of 168 and a tie for 45th place. Freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS) and senior Adriana Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) were next. Treanor shot 86 and 85, and Espinoza shot 84 and 87. Both are tied for 56th at 171. Sophomore Itziar Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) is 68th with scores of 89 and 88 for a total of 177, and sophomore Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) is 85th with scores of 97 and 111 for a total of 208.
