FINISH 12TH AT SHSU/WATERWOOD INVITATIONAL
HUNTSVILLE, TX – The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf team finished 12th at the Sam
Houston State/Waterwood National Women’s Spring Invitational, at the
Waterwood National Golf Club. The Lady Broncs shot a final-round score of 374, for a two-day, 54-hole total of 1061. Arkansas-Little Rock won the tournament with a score of 966, which placed them five strokes ahead of Nebraska and 11 shots in front of Nevada. Host SHSU was fourth at 981, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi fifth at 982, McLennan Community College sixth at 986, Kansas seventh at 987, Southern Methodist eighth at 990, Lamar ninth at 995, Eastern Michigan 10th at 997 and Southwest Texas State 11th at 1024. Following the Lady Broncs were Tyler Junior College at 1064, Centenary at 1068, the Sam Houston State Orange team at 1091, Nicholls State at 1153, and McNeese State, which had three players withdraw due to illness and did not finish with an official team score. Sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS)
led the Lady Broncs, shooting a final-round score of 91 for a 54-hole
total of 259, good for a tie for 46th place. Sophomore Itziar
Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) was next for UTPA, tying
for 58th after a final round score of 87 and a three-round
total of 264. Freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley
HS) shot a 96, good for a total of 267 and 62nd place. Senior
Adriana Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) shot 100 Tuesday, for a total of
271, good for 69th place. Sophomore Christina Infante
(Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) finished 84th with a score of 110,
good for a total of 318. The Lady Broncs will compete at the Northern
Illinois Snowbird Tournament in Tampa, Florida
