11TH AT ISLANDER FALL CLASSIC
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The University of Texas-Pan
American’s women’s golf team finished 11th out of 13
teams at the 54-hole, two-day Islander Fall Classic, which concluded
today at Kings Crossing Country Club. The Lady Broncs shot a final-round 360, giving them
a three-round total of 1094. They finished 44 shots behind Centenary,
and three strokes ahead of Nicholls State. Baylor won the tournament
with a score of 921. Senior Adriana Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) led
the Lady Broncs, shooting a final-round score of 82 for a three-day
total of 252 and a tie for 35th place. Sophomore Itziar
Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) shot 87 Tuesday for 263
and a tie for 50th, sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham
HS) shot 90-269 for 57th, and sophomore Christina Infante
(Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) shot 101-325 for 68th. Freshman
Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS), who shot a 96 in
the first round, injured her back and was unable to continue. “It was unfortunate that Christine Treanor hurt
her back, because she was playing very well before we left,” said UTPA
Head Coach Barb Odale. “I’m proud of Christina Infante, who stepped
up and shot her best round of the year. “ The tournament concludes the fall schedule for the Lady Broncs. They will begin spring competition at the Islander Spring Invitational February 18th. UTPA RESULTS
