CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The University of Texas-Pan American’s women’s golf team finished 11th out of 13 teams at the 54-hole, two-day Islander Fall Classic, which concluded today at Kings Crossing Country Club.

The Lady Broncs shot a final-round 360, giving them a three-round total of 1094. They finished 44 shots behind Centenary, and three strokes ahead of Nicholls State. Baylor won the tournament with a score of 921.

Senior Adriana Espinoza (Laredo, TX/Laredo CC) led the Lady Broncs, shooting a final-round score of 82 for a three-day total of 252 and a tie for 35th place. Sophomore Itziar Unanue (Monterrey, Mexico/Colegio San Patricio) shot 87 Tuesday for 263 and a tie for 50th, sophomore Crystal Frazier (Wortham, TX/Wortham HS) shot 90-269 for 57th, and sophomore Christina Infante (Lyford, TX/Lyford HS) shot 101-325 for 68th. Freshman Christine Treanor (Bulverde, TX/Smithson Valley HS), who shot a 96 in the first round, injured her back and was unable to continue.

“It was unfortunate that Christine Treanor hurt her back, because she was playing very well before we left,” said UTPA Head Coach Barb Odale. “I’m proud of Christina Infante, who stepped up and shot her best round of the year. “

The tournament concludes the fall schedule for the Lady Broncs. They will begin spring competition at the Islander Spring Invitational February 18th.
