UT Pan American Women’s Golf Finishes 14th at Lady Razorback Invitational

ROGERS, ARK. – The University of Texas-Pan American women’s golf team finished 14th at the University of Arkansas Lady Razorbck Invitational, Tuesday afternoon at the Pinnacle Country Club.

Freshman Melissa Head led the Lady Broncs for the second straight tournament, tying for 60th with a 256.  She shot her best round of the tournament in the final round, an 80.  Fellow freshman Itziar Unanue also tied for 60th with a 256.  Senior Tootie Lauzon tied for 63rd, just two strokes back of Head and Unanue.  She shot the lowest round of the tournament among the Lady Broncs, a second round 79.  Adriana Espinoza finished 68th and Jeannie Lane took 76th.

Angie Yoon of Nevada took medallist honors, firing a final round 71 to come from behind and win the title.  Kelly Dillon of Bradley led after the first day, but shot a final round 79 to fall to second place, four shots back.  Meghan Ingalls of Nevada, Jil Swenson of Bradley and Lauren Baugh of Arkansas all tied for third with 230’s.

In the team competition Bradley ran away with the title, finishing with a 931.  Nevada took second with a 942, Arkansas was third with a 950, Tennessee Tech was fourth with a 955 and Southern Methodist was fifth with a 970.  UTPA took 14th with a 1030. 

The Lady Broncs will return to action at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Ladies Golf Classic on October 16-17 in Little Rock, Ark.
