Leads UT Pan American Women’s Golf After First Day at Pat Bradley
Invitational MIAMI,
FLA. – Itziar Unanue fired a first round 78 to land in fifth place and
lead the way for the University of Texas-Pan American women’s golf
team after the first round of the FIU/Pat Bradley Invitational Golf
Tournament, held at the Miami National Country Club on Monday. Unanue, a
freshman from Monterrey, Mexico, fired a consistent 39-39 on the front
and back nines of the course to tie for fifth place with Neira Boysen of
Bethune Cookman. Junior
Adrianna Espinoza is tied for 18th after the first day of
competition with an opening round of 82.
Tootie Lauzon is tied for 28th place and Crystal
Frazier is tied for 33rd at 90. Michelle
Simpson of host Florida International leads the way individually after
shooting a first round 72 on Monday.
She is closely followed by Natalie Navarro of Florida Atlantic
with a 73 and Laura Korus of FIU with a 75.
In the team standings host FIU is leading the way with a 313,
while Bethune Cookman is second with a 321.
Florida Atlantic is third with a 324, Jacksonville and Jackson
State are tied in fourth with 333’s and UTPA is in sixth with a 336.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Barry University are in seventh
with 339’s. Play will continue at the Miami National Country Club on Tuesday morning with the second round of the three-round tournament. |
