Immediate Release: November 16, 2000 Unanue Leads UT Pan
American Women’s Golf to Eighth at Pat Bradley Invitational
MIAMI,
FLA. – Itziar Unanue shot a final round 83 to lead the University of
Texas-Pan American women’s golf team to an eighth place finish at the
22nd Annual Pat Bradley Invitational at the International
Links Golf Course on Thursday. Unanue, a
freshman from Monterrey, Mexico, finished 19th overall with a
three-round total of 247 (78-86-83).
Adriana Espinoza was the second Bronc finisher, firing a 254 to
place 26th overall. Crystal
Frazier tied for 28th overall with a 257 and Tootie Lauzon
was 39th with a 271. Overall,
Michelle Simpson of Florida International fired a final round 70, the
lowest individual round of the tournament, to win medallist honors by
six strokes. Natalie
Navarro of Florida Atlantic took second with a 222, while Ellen Dunne of
Florida International was third with a 223. In the
team standings host Florida International ran away with the tournament
championship, defeating second place Bethune Cookman by 42 strokes.
FIU shot a three-round total of 912, compared with BCC’s 954.
Florida Atlantic was third with a 984, Jackson State was fourth
with a 986, Barry was fifth with a 991, Jacksonville was sixth with a
994, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was seventh with a 998 and UTPA was
eighth with a 1002. The tournament wrapped up fall play for the Lady Broncs, who will return to action on February 6-7 when they host the Lady Bronc Classic Golf Tournament in Mission. |
