SAN ANTONIO – Maria Fernandez won her third straight singles match, but it wasn’t enough as the University of Texas Pan American fell to the University of Texas-San Antonio in women’s tennis action Saturday afternoon.
Fernandez, a sophomore from Cordova, Mexico, was leading 6-3, 3-2, when her opponent at number one singles, Julie Colin retired. The win improves Fernandez’s record to 3-3 in the spring season. Sagnite Garcia, playing at number three singles fell to Eva Soderkvist, 6-3, 6-1.
