Reyes Leads UT-Pan American Women’s Tennis at UT-San Antonio Fall Invite.

SAN ANTONIO – Amanda Reyes won two singles matches, leading the way for the UT-Pan American women’s tennis team at the UT-San Antonio Fall Invitational on Sunday.

Reyes, a freshman from McAllen, won her opening round match in Flight “C” singles, 6-3, 6-0, over Heather Houghton of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.  She lost in two tough sets to Stacy Light of Lee Junior College in the quarterfinals, but came back to defeat Celine Hadley of St. Edward’s 6-4, 6-3.  She was defeated by Ellian Rohrbacher of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the fifth place match, 7-5, 6-4.

Sarah Voss, a sophomore from San Angelo, finished seventh in Flight “B” singles.  She defeated Kelli Kukk of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the seventh place match, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.  In Flight “B” doubles action, the team of Reyes and Christine Getchell won their opening round match 8-2 over Emily Zukowski and Celine Hadley of St. Edward’s, but fell in the semifinals and finished fourth.

The tournament marked the coaching debut for Scott Howard at UT-Pan American.  The Lady Broncs will return to action on November 5-8 at the Rolex Regional Qualifier in Fort Worth, Texas.
