LADY BRONCS FALL AT SMU

DALLAS, TX –The University of Texas-Pan American women’s tennis team fell to the 55th-rated team in the nation Friday.

Southern Methodist blanked the Lady Broncs, 6-0, at Haggar Tennis Stadium.

The singles were played first, and, since SMU had another match scheduled later, doubles were not played. Sophomore Celine Merlini (Vevey, Switzerland/Cessev HS) turned in UTPA’s best performance, losing to Kit Carson at number one singles, 6-4, 6-3.

“We didn’t play that well, and I was disappointed with the result,” said UTPA Head Coach Todd Chapman. “I expect us to turn in a better performance tomorrow.”

The Lady broncs dropped to 1-2 with the defeat. They will play at Sam Houston State Saturday afternoon.
