Had a fine sophomore season in 2001, during which he finished tied for second among Broncs in victories, while walking only 15 batters in 46.1 innings....Earned victories against Centenary and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.....Redshirted at UTPA during the 2000 season........A two-sport star at WEST COLUMBIA HIGH SCHOOL, where he excelled in both baseball and football....went 6-2 as a senior, pitching 64 innings, walking 12 batters and striking out 60 with an ERA of 2.00...Also played shortstop.....Named first team All-District in baseball as well as in football for two seasons.......Named to the All-Academic Team.
