Started the opening game of the season for the Broncs last year as a junior in 2002……Defeated Texas Christian at the Round Rock Express College Classic……Also pitched a complete-game victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Went 3-1 as a starter at UT-BROWNSVILLE before being shifted to the bullpen.... Pitched eight innings of scoreless, one-hit ball against Galveston, which was the top ranked team at the time.

Earned All-City and All-District honors at HOMER HANNA HIGH SCHOOL.....Went 2-0 in the playoffs as a senior with two complete games and two home runs...Was 8-2 as a senior with two saves, and 16-6 for his career with five saves....Also played shortstop, and shooting guard for the basketball team.....Graduated in the top 10 percent of his class....Named to Who's Who Among Student-Athletes.
