TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN TO TAKE ON TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO

Edinburg, Texas - Texas-Pan American will hit the road to take on Texas-San Antonio, March 23-24 in a two game series. Both games are scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. The series this season is tied at one win each. The Broncs beat the Roadrunners, 6-4 on March 12 and then lost, 3-1 on March 13 with both games in Edinburg.

Texas-Pan American (14-14) is coming off a huge 4-1 win over #27 Oral Roberts on March 21 in Edinburg. The Broncs are led by the tandem of Louie Alamia (So./Edinburg, Texas/Edinburg North HS) and Marco Garza (Jr./Mission, Texas/Sharyland HS). Alamia is hitting .367 with five doubles, four triples and one home run. He has scored 23 runs and driven in 15 and has reached base safely in his last 39 games. Garza had one of the best offensive games in UTPA history against Oral Roberts on March 20. He went 7-for-8, scored three runs, drove in two runs, broke the school record for hits in a game and tied for third on the NCAA single-game hit list. For the season, Garza has five doubles with 23 runs scored, 15 RBI's and is hitting .323.

Over the last 11 games, the Broncs have posted a 2.82 E.R.A. while allowing their opponents to hit just .242. Justin Bogy (Sr./West Columbia, Texas/West Columbia HS) is 3-1 with a 1.64 E.R.A. in 22 innings. He gave up five hits and one unearned run over six innings in that win over Oral Roberts. Juan Saenz (Jr./Mission, Texas/Mission HS) is 4-0 with 36 strikeouts and a 2.29 E.R.A. in 35 and one-third innings. The bullpen duo of Chad Linder (Fr./Reklaw, Texas/Rusk HS) and Ricky Broyles (Jr./Longview, Texas/Northeast Texas CC) have been impressive. Combined, they are 1-2 with eight saves and a 2.42 E.R.A in 26 games and have allowed their opponents to hit only .204.

Texas-San Antonio (10-10) is coming off a 5-2 loss to Southeastern Louisiana on March 21. On offense, the Roadrunners have a pair of .300 hitters. Sam Mitchell is hitting .308 with five doubles, three home runs, has scored 12 runs and driven in 17 runs. Ryan Crew has four doubles, three home runs, has scored 13 runs, driven in 13 runs and is batting .301. On the mound, Steven Vasquez is 4-1 with 40 strike outs and a 4.15 E.R.A. in 39 innings. Klae Boehme is 3-3 with 40 strike outs and a 2.90 E.R.A. in 40 innings.
