Release: Thursday, December 12, 2002 BRONCS ADD GLAZIER FOR NEXT FALL EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's baseball team has added its sixth recruit for the fall. Right-handed pitcher Ricky Glazier will transfer from Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas next fall as a junior, and will have two years of eligibility. He is from Garland, Texas, where he attended Garland High School. Glazier pitched for North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas as a freshman before transferring to Eastfield as a sophomore. As a freshman, Glazier struck out 52 batters in 44 2/3 innings at North Central. He walked just ten batters, had a 1-3 record and a 3.16 earned run average, and had seven saves while serving as North Central's closer. Glazier earned All-District honors at Garland High School, where he went 10-5 as a senior. In 134 innings pitched, he walked 44 batters, struck out 211, and had an earned run average of 1.96. "Ricky is a guy who can come in here and be a starter or a closer," said UTPA Head Coach Willie Gawlik. "He has great velocity and great control. We're looking for him to come in a make a major contribution as either a starter or as a closer. We'll have to wait and see how we'll use him, and we're looking forward to having Ricky here and being part of our team." BA-12-03 121202 |
