Contributed as a reserve during the 2000-01 season...A product of the local area who walked on and earned a spot on the team as a freshman.....Gained valuable experience practicing with the Broncs during his first year on the squad.

A standout for MERCEDES HIGH SCHOOL, where he averaged 15 points, six assists and four rebounds per game as a senior… Was named Most Valuable player for the basketball team as a senior… Earned second team All-District honors......Earned the Perfect Attendance Award......Named to the National Honor Society for Student-Athletes.

Born July 14, 1981......Son of Betty and Juan Cortez.....Has a sister, Michelle......Majoring in Marketing with a minor in Computer Information Systems.
