EDINBURG, TX-A hot team and an exciting half-time show are on tap when The University of Texas-Pan American's men's basketball team returns to action Monday night. The Broncs host Alcorn State at 7:30 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
The Broncs snapped a four-game losing streak with their victory against Indiana-Purdue-Fort
Wayne Wednesday evening. They will take a 6-13 record into Monday night's game,
and they hope to continue their momentum.
"Any time you win, you build confidence," said UTPA Head Coach Bob
Hoffman. "Success breeds more success, but we'll have to work hard to continue
to be successful. We're working on continuing to get better in terms of execution
and guarding people."
Alcorn State is 5-11 prior to their game at Southern Saturday night. The Braves had won three games in a row before they lost to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday evening.
"Alcorn State is very quick and athletic, and they have a bunch of guys who can shoot the ball," said Hoffman. "They do a very good job of mixing their defenses. We have to understand what defense they're in, and what we need to be doing."
The half-time show will feature the Extreme Team and their dunking exhibition. "We had a great crowd the other night," said Hoffman. "It would be great to have another crowd like that."
The Broncs will continue their home stand next Wednesday when they host Lamar.
