Edinburg, Texas - Thomas Sanders was named the Most Valuable Player of the boy's basketball National Homeschool Tournament in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on March 15-20. Sanders signed in November to attend Texas-Pan American in the fall of 2004.

Sanders, a 6-2 senior, helped lead his team, the HYCA Warriors, to win the National Homeschool Championships. He averaged 21.1 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 2.9 steals and blocked 1.8 shots a game. Sanders was named the MVP in four other tournaments this year; the Seguin High School Tournament, the Cornerstone Classic, the Cypress Community Christian Tournament and the Eagle Holiday Classic. Sanders was named MVP of the Texas State Homeschool Championships where his team lost in the final. He has also been nominated for the McDonald's All-American team. Sanders was named to the Homeschool All-State and All-American teams as a sophomore, junior and senior.

"This is a great honor for Thomas." Said head coach Bob Hoffman. "We're excited about him coming down to Texas-Pan American. He adds great depth to the guard position as he can play numerous positions. He can handle the basketball extremely well and is mentally tough. He is the kind of athlete that every college program would like to have. We are fortunate to have him here at Texas-Pan American."
