Bossier City, La. - Texas-Pan American is within striking distance of
the top five after two rounds of the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate. Rudy Celedon
(Sr./Edinburg, Texas/Edinburg North HS) heads into the final day tomorrow tied
for the lead. The tournament will conclude tomorrow.
Sam Houston State shot 294-292 for a 586 and has a 15 shot lead over Centenary.
Louisiana Tech is third at 604 and Newman and McNeese State are tied for fourth.
The Broncs are in sixth place as they shot 311-300 for a 611.
Individually, Celedon (74-68) and Jeremy Dean (69-73) of Sam Houston State are tied for first at 142. They lead by one shot over Derek Busby of Louisiana Tech.
"I'm excited about tomorrow's round," said Head Coach Drew Scott. "It would be nice to see Rudy win his first collegiate tournament. I didn't realize that we were that close to the teams in 2nd through 4th place. If we play a solid round, we have a shot at the top four. It's nice to see Colin Norris (Fr./Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Cochrane HS) playing better."
