BRONCS ADD PRESTIGIOUS HAL SUTTON INTERCOLLEGIATE TO SCHEDULE

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's men's golf team has added a prestigious tournament to their spring schedule.

The Broncs will participate in the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Centenary College Monday and Tuesday, April 5th and 6th. The tournament will consist of three rounds over the two-day period, and will take place at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Shreveport, LA.

Texas-Pan American participated in the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate three years ago. Freshman Rudy Celedon (Edinburg, TX/Edinburg North HS) finished second overall with a 36-hole score of 141, and the Broncs finished third in the team standings. Celedon shot scores of 73 and 68, and his round of 68 was UTPA's best round of the season.

"I'm please that we were asked to play in such a prestigious tournament," said UTPA Head Coach Drew Scott. "Hal Sutton played at Centenary, and he's been on the PGA Tour since the early 80s, and has played in four or five Ryder Cups. The timing is good for us. The tournament will be the week after we get back from Arkansas-Little Rock, and it is two weeks before we go to Virginia. Any time we can add an event where we play against district teams, it's nothing but a benefit to us. Our guys are very excited about the opportunity."

The Broncs will begin their spring schedule at the Rice Intercollegiate February 9th and 10th.
