BRONCS FINISH 12TH AT SAM HALL CLASSIC
HATTIESBURG,
MS-The University of Texas-Pan American men's golf team finished in
12th place at the 15 team Sam Hall Intercollegiate, hosted by Southern
Mississippi at the Hattiesburg Country Club.
The Broncs shot 310 in the third round, giving them a 54-hole total
of 923 and placing them two strokes behind 13th-place Samford.
Southeastern Louisiana won the tournament with a score of 852. They
were followed by McNeese State at 854, Wichita State and the host Golden
Eagles at 857, Iowa State at 885, Nebraska at 892, Sam Houston State
at 893, Troy State at 898, Jacksonville at 900, Louisiana-Monroe at
905, and Nicholls State at 916. Following the Broncs were Samford at
925, Western Illinois at 936, and William Carey at 978.
Junior Rudy Celedon (Edinburg, TX/Edinburg North HS) led the Broncs,
shooting 74 in the third round for a 54-hole total of 228 and tying
for 44th place. Junior Paul Manganilla (Carrollton, TX/Newman Smith
HS/Navarro College) shot 77 for a total of 230 and tied for 50th. Junior
Ben Piper (Lubbock, TX/Coronado HS) shot 79 for 235 and tied for 63rd.
Freshman Craig Berger (Wetaskiwin, AB/Wetaskiwin Composite HS) shot
84 for a total of 236 and finished 67th. Junior John Huerta (Alice,
TX/Alice HS) shot 80 for a total of 242 and finished 77th.
The Broncs will return to action at the Moe O'Brien Memorial Invitational
in Lake Charles, LA on March 3rd.
