BRONCS 5TH AT MOE O'BRIEN MEMORIAL INTERCOLLEGIATE
LAKE CHARLES, LA-The University of Texas-Pan American men's golf team
finished fifth at the 13-team Moe O'Brien Memorial Invitational, hosted
by McNeese State at the Lake Charles Country Club.
The Broncs a final-round score of 292 Tuesday, on the concluding day
of the tournament. They finished with a 54-hole score of 893, two
strokes behind Oklahoma Christian.
The host Cowboys won the tournament with a score of 865. Louisiana-Monroe
was next at 873, followed by Southwest Texas State at 879. Following
Texas-Pan American were Nicholls State at 894, Cameron at 901, Stephen
F. Austin, Navy and Northeastern State at 908, Louisiana Tech at 911,
New Orleans at 912, and Centenary at 917.
Junior Rudy Celedon (Edinburg, TX/Edinburg North HS) led the Broncs,
shooting a final-round score of 70 for 214, and a tie for third place.
Junior Paul Manganilla (Carrollton, TX/Newman Smith HS/Navarro College)
shot 73 for 223 and tied for 18th, freshman Craig Berger (Wetaskiwin,
AB/Wetaskiwin Composite HS) shot 78 for 229, and junior John Huerta
(Alice, TX/Alice HS) shot 73 for 229, and both tied for 40th, and
junior Ben Piper (Lubbock, TX/Coronado HS) shot 76 for 242 and tied
for 71st.
The tournament will return to action at the Bearkat Classic March
17th.
