UTPA TENNIS TEAMS BACK IN ACTION
EDINBURG, TX-After being idle for nearly two weeks, The University of Texas-Pan American's tennis teams return to action this week when they travel to New Mexico State and Texas-El Paso.
The Broncs, who are 1-1, play Abilene Christian Friday morning, at 10 a.m. Central Time, while the Lady Broncs will take a 1-3 record into their match at Texas-El Paso at 3:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Saturday, both teams play New Mexico State at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, both teams play Tennessee Tech at 10 a.m.
"The teams that our women are playing are all at about the same level, and all three matches will be tough ones," said UTPA Head Coach Todd Chapman. "All three teams are solid, and playing three solid teams in three days is a big task. New Mexico State is the strongest of the three, having been in and out of the national rankings all year. We're getting to play three teams that we don't normally play on this trip."
Chapman said that the Broncs will also be tested. "We have the opportunity to win all three matches, but if we don't play well, we could lose all three matches," said Chapman. "Abilene Christian is a top team in Division II, and New Mexico State and Tennessee tech are similar. I'm excited to see how our team responds to playing three teams in three days that we're evenly matched with."
The Broncs and Lady Broncs will return home to play St. Mary's February 12th.
