TENNIS TEAMS SPLIT WITH CAMERON

SAN ANTONIO, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American's tennis teams split their matches with Cameron Monday afternoon.

The Broncs defeated the Aggies, 6-1, while the Lady Broncs fell to CU, 5-2, at the Incarnate Word tennis courts.

The Broncs dropped the doubles point, but swept the singles matches to earn the victory. Sophomore Jeremy Salvo (Coquitlam, BC/Centennial Secondary) and freshmen Oliver Steil (Brunssum, The Netherlands/AF North International School) and Nik Porter (Tunbridge Wells, England/Bennett Memorial School) each won their singles match in straight sets.

Senior Elisabet Mateos (Barcelona, Spain/Arnau Cadell HS/Laredo CC) and junior Julie Fife (Los Alamos, NM/Los Alamos HS) won their singles matches for the Lady Broncs, but Cameron won the other four singles matches and won the doubles point.

"On the men's side, we started off a little slowly, and Cameron played well," said UTPA Head Coach Todd Chapman. "It was our first match in a week, and we were a little rusty, but we came back in singles, and came up with a victory. Our women didn't play that well. We need to regain our confidence, and find a way to win."

The Broncs improved to 7-4 with the win, while the Lady Broncs fell to 3-14 with the defeat. Cameron's men fell to 3-1, while their women improved to 4-0.

UTPA will return to action when they play Vermont Thursday afternoon in San Antonio.
