SEVEN FALL TOURNAMENTS SET FOR UTPA TENNIS
EDINBURG, TX-Seven fall tournaments have been scheduled for The University of Texas-Pan American's tennis teams as they make their debut under new head coach Eduardo Provencio.
The Broncs will play four tournaments and the Lady Broncs three, and each team will participate at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association regional tournament in October.
The men begin their schedule at the Lamar Invitational September 19th through the 21st. They will then participate in tournaments at Texas-Arlington (October 3-5) and Texas-San Antonio (October 10-12) before concluding fall action at the ITA Regional Championships in Fort Worth October 24th through the 26th.
"We have several new players on the men's side, so the fall schedule is going to be interesting," said Provencio. "With eight players on the men's squad, it will make practice pretty competitive. We'll try to get everyone some matches, but if people work hard and get themselves into the top six, we can reward them by taking them on the road."
The women open at Lamar September 26th through the 28th. They will then compete at the ITA Regionals in Fort Worth October 17th through the 19th, and they will conclude fall action at Texas-San Antonio October 31st through November 2nd.
"With only five people on the women's team this fall, everyone should be able to get a lot of experience playing in matches," said Provencio. "I'll be interest to see how we will respond, particularly our new people."
