Edinburg, Texas - It took two different locations for Texas-Pan American (6-4) to beat Texas Southern 4-1 to snap its three match losing streak. The match started at the Orville Cox Tennis Center at Texas-Pan American. The rain began to fall during the singles matches forcing the teams to move indoors at The Summit.
Texas-Pan American won at Number 1 and Number 2 Doubles to head into singles with a 1-0 lead. Tom Mangelschots (Sr./Limburg, Belgium/KA 2 HS) beat Jose Rueda, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 at Number 3 Singles. That gave UTPA a 4-1 lead and both coaches agreed to not play the remaining matches.
"We bounced back from the loss to Abilene Christian." Said assistant coach Kati Gyulai. "We looked very sharp today and just took care of business. This was a good win for us and I'm looking for us to continue this kind of play the rest of the season."
Texas-Pan American is off until March 26 when they take on Texas-San Antonio. The match, which opens the Southland Conference season for the Broncs, is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
