Edinburg, Texas - Texas Southern had to earn a 4-3 win over Texas-Pan American (1-5) today. The doubles were played at the Orville Cox Tennis Center at UTPA. Due to rain, the single matches were moved indoors at The Summit.

For the first time this season, Texas-Pan American won the doubles point. Vanessa Hedinger (Fr./Therwil, Switzerland/Gymnasium Berwil) and Elysia Sloan (So./Duncanville, Texas/Duncanville HS) posted an 8-0 win over Deya Balboa and Charmayne Pinson. At Number 3 Doubles, Natalie Gonzalez (Fr./McAllen, Texas/Nikki Rowe HS) and Ana Pena (Jr./McAllen, Texas/Nikki Rowe HS) teamed up to beat Angel Pinson and Jakie Okwueze, 8-6.

"I couldn't be happier with our effort today." Said assistant coach Kati Gyulai. "We just went out and played hard today. I'm especially pleased with the performance of Angela Saenz (Jr./Premont, Texas). She did a very good job of handling the pressure of her first collegiate match. We are definitely looking at the return date with Texas Southern for a chance at revenge."

Texas-Pan American is back at the Orville Cox Tennis Stadium, Saturday, March 27 taking on Air Force. The match is scheduled to start at 8:30 a.m.
