TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN TENNIS TEAM SIGNS OLIVER STEIL

EDINBURG, TX-The University of Texas-Pan American tennis team has added another recruit for the fall.

Oliver Steil (pronounced STEEL) of Brunssum, The Netherlands and the AF North International School will join Texas-Pan American as a freshman. He will have four years of eligibility.

Steil played tennis for the T.C. Nieuwenbagen club team in The Netherlands. He was ranked 147th in the Netherlands in men’s singles and 140th in men’s doubles. The rankings included all men’s players in the country, at all levels.

“We’re very excited to have a player of Oliver’s caliber coming into our program for this season,” said UTPA Head Coach Todd Chapman. “I expect Oliver to play in
the top part of our lineup, and be a contributor right away. He has a good serve, a good forehand and a good overall game. Oliver defeated one of our current players,
Tom Mangelschots (Limburg, Belgium/KA 2 HS) in a tournament last year, so I know that he can help us this season.”

Steil intends to major in business at Texas-Pan American.
